The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly has been recognized for
its outstanding performance in public financial management after being ranked 2nd
out of 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana in
the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT).
The recognition was presented by the Center for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA), with support from the European Union, during an award ceremony held this afternoon to honour high-performing local government institutions across the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi, the Municipal
Coordinating Director, Mr. Musah Mahama Sensau, and the Municipal Finance
Officer, Mr. Brian Senyo Kugbadzor, received the award on behalf of the staff
and people of the Nkwanta South Municipality.
In addition to the Assembly's remarkable national ranking,
the Oti Region emerged as the best-performing region in Ghana, underscoring the
region's commitment to sound financial management and effective local
governance.
This prestigious achievement reflects the Assembly's unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, prudent financial management, and excellence in service delivery. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of the Assembly's systems and the dedication of its leadership and staff in ensuring compliance with public financial management standards.
The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly extends its heartfelt
appreciation to its hardworking staff, the Member of Parliament for the
constituency, Hon. Geoffrey Kini, traditional authorities, Assembly Members,
development partners, and all stakeholders whose unwavering support and
collaboration have contributed to this remarkable milestone.
