The Procurement Unit provides strategic direction for the effective management of procurement activities within the Assembly. The Unit ensures that all procurement processes support the overall objectives of the Assembly while promoting transparency, accountability, and value for money in the use of public resources. The Unit is responsible for planning and coordinating procurement-related activities, including the development and implementation of the Assembly's procurement plan. It also contributes inputs to the preparation of the Assembly's annual budget, ensuring that procurement needs are properly captured and aligned with the Assembly's development priorities.
In addition, the Procurement Unit liaises with service providers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the acquisition of goods, works, and services required for the implementation of government programmes and projects within the municipality. The Unit ensures that all procurement activities are carried out in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) and other applicable procurement regulations and guidelines. This helps promote fairness, competitiveness, and compliance in the procurement process.
The Procurement Unit also supervises stores management, inventory control, and the disposal of obsolete or unserviceable assets in line with established procedures. Furthermore, the Unit is responsible for the preparation and submission of annual and periodic procurement reports to the Public Procurement Authority, ensuring proper monitoring, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
