The Oti Regional Secretariat of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), held its 2026 May Day celebration at the Kadjebi Parade Grounds on Thursday, May 1, 2026, honouring 25 outstanding workers drawn from the region's nine districts. The event was held on the theme, "Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihood Beyond Macroeconomic Stability."
Award categories for the occasion included Best Worker of the Year, Best Female Worker, Longest Serving Worker, and Dedicated Worker, among others. Winners went home with items such as freezers, refrigerators, sewing machines, television sets, and ovens, presented in recognition of their dedication and contribution to public service delivery.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Francis Apawu, Oti Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, commended workers for their resilience in keeping public services running and communities thriving. He noted that economic stability meant little unless it translated into real improvements in workers' incomes and livelihoods, and called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives across the region to continue supporting and celebrating outstanding staff annually.
In a speech read on his behalf by Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, Oti Regional Coordinating Director, the Oti Regional Minister, Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, praised workers across the region for their discipline and professionalism, and stressed the need for progress to translate into decent employment, fair wages, and stronger social protection for workers. He reaffirmed the importance of social dialogue and fair labour practices in maintaining industrial harmony. Dr. Suraj Issaka Suraj, Kadjebi District Chief Executive, also lauded the workers' sacrifice, while Mr. Prosper Tsormana, one of the national award winners, thanked the donors and the CLOGSAG Regional Organising Committee on behalf of the recipients.
