EOCO BOSS PAYS COURTESY CALL TO NKWANTA

The Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) COP Maame Tiwa Addo-Danquah and her entourage on Wednesday, 24th August 2022 paid a courtesy call to the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly. The visit was among other things to strengthen the collaboration between her outfit and the Security Agencies especially the Ghana Police Service to ensure that they protected the public purse.

She also inspected the office accommodation provided to her outfit by the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly and expressed appreciation for the gesture. She noted that there was the need to provide an official vehicle and post additional staff to the Region. According to her, her outfit was in the process of supplying some logistics and Oti Region was highly under consideration.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Bright K. Lenwah in his welcome remarks indicated that the Municipality was endowned with a lot of tourist attractions such as the Breast Mountain and waterfalls which are located at the Kyabobo National Park, and the hanging village of Shiare.

He concluded by indicating that the Assembly has plans of renovating some official buildings of which the structure currently housing EOCO in the Municipality is under consideration for such renovation works next year.

COMBATING COVID-19: HOSPITALS ENSURE MEASURES

As part of measures to contain and prevent the spread of the CORONA VIRUS outbreak, two hospitals in the Nkwanta South Municipality have made available two isolated units with 16 bed capacity as a preparative measure towards the handling of any suspected case in the Municipality.

The two Hospitals namely St. Joseph and Municipal Hospitals have joined the campaign in response to the directive by the Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) to monitor the implementation of the directives within their area of jurisdiction so as to prevent the spread of the virus. Nkwanta South is a highly populated Municipality that shares boundary with neighboring Togo which had a confirmed case of the CORONAVIRUS.

Indicating their readiness, the Medical Superintendent at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Kwame Amoah and some Nurses at the facility gave the assurance that they are prepared to quarantine any suspected case and will also observe all relevant protocols. He however, advised that patients with related signs and symptoms should visit the facility on time for early treatment.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Osman Musah showed satisfaction for the measures put in place by the health facilities to tackle any suspected case. He also assured that the Assembly was going to provide the necessary logistics to the facilities to combat the infection and spread of the virus.

Speaking to the media, the Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Ms. Cynthia Sekyere advised residents to keep their surroundings clean in order to prevent an outbreak of cholera or any other health related case that worsen the situation of the corona virus. The Municipal Education Director, Mr. Jonathan Korsinah advised students staying home to take advantage of the Joy learning channel to better their study while at home.
