MONETARY ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs)

The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly recently organized a mini durbar at the assembly’s forecourt to officially present monetary assistance to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality. This event was aimed at empowering individuals and persons with disabilities by providing them with training and capital to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey.

In total, seventy-three (73) individuals, comprising twenty-seven (27) males and forty-six (46) females, received skills training in areas such as soap making, shower gel making, and detergent production. Additionally, they were equipped with capital to help them start and establish themselves in these ventures.
This initiative does not only provide practical skills but also financial support to enable PWDs to become self-reliant and economically independent.

During the mini durbar, The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Felix Owusu-Gyimah assured all attendees, including the executives of the PWDs, of the government’s readiness to support them.

He also emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to monitoring these businesses to ensure that the intended purpose of empowering and uplifting these individuals with disabilities is achieved. He reiterated that this proactive approach was aimed at fostering sustainable businesses and enhancing the livelihoods of PWDs in Nkwanta South Municipality.

He continued and reiterated that by investing in training and providing capital to PWDs, the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly is not only promoting economic empowerment but also fostering inclusivity and diversity within the local economy.

He pointed out that, this initiative highlights the importance of supporting and uplifting marginalized groups, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and prosperous municipality.
