The Municipal Chief Executive of Nkwanta South, Honorable Felix Owusu Gyimah joined the teachers and students of the pre-tertiary schools in the Nkwanta Township, the chiefs and the people of Nkwanta to mark the 67th Independence Day anniversary celebration under the theme, “Democracy, Our Pride”.
Ghana became the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence from its colonial masters, Britain. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the republic’s first president, proclaimed Ghana’s liberation from colonial rule on the 6th of March 1957.
On the 6th of March every year, there is a march-past of school children and officers from the various security services to commemorate this momentous milestone in the history of the country.
In Nkwanta, the parade of school children and cadets took place at the JSS A School Park.
The MCE, Honorable Gyimah implored the chiefs and people of Nkwanta to embrace peace.
